jameslefferty_image.jpgSmart, laid back, easy on the eyes...these are just a few things to describe the One Tree Hill star, James Lafferty. James recently had a little time to chat with us for a while about the show and other things he had on his mind. He told us about a recent charity basketball game held to raise money for the Wilmington Family YMCA and the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, which raised over $66,000. That's no small feat! He was very pleased with the fan turnout, and always happy to donate money to those in need. How does he choose who to donate money too?

“We try to spread the wealth a little bit. Each year we always do the Wilmington Family YMCA because they always help us out with their facilities and we think it’s good to support the local YMCA. Then, each year we pick a charity that is doing good things, or a cause we think is good, and we help them out. This year it was St. Jude.”

More Q&A goodness:

Aced: What is it about basketball that you like so much more than other sports?

James: It’s something I grew up playing and it was my first love. There is a finesse, a real challenge behind the game that attracted me. If there is something on my mind or I just needed to get away it’s always been really good for me I think.

Aced: With you doing so much for charities do you ever do anything for the environment or global warming. What are your thoughts on all of that?

James: More and more I am becoming aware of it I think, like the rest of the country is, and I try to do my part. But as far as actively being out there and campaigning for it I haven’t been doing that.

Aced: As far as the show, which one of this season's episodes has been your favorite to work on?

James: That’s a really good question. So far they’ve all been really strong. Probably the first episode because the first episode is when we did a lot of flashback stuff, we packed a lot of stuff into one episode and it was just really fun to shoot. There was a couple of others, but the first was my favorite. Also, because it was the script we had all been waiting for a long time to see what happened.

Aced: Do you agree with how your character is dealing with his father through everything and why do you think so?

James: I think Nathan has kind of alienated his father and I think it is justified. His father is a real bas***d, and there is just no coming back from that I think. I think the character will struggle with it certainly because he still is his father. In the end I think it will be an interesting situation. If his Dad does die or ends up living I think Nathan is going to keep him at a distance right to the end.

Aced: What for you has been the most rewarding aspect of being part of the One Tree Hill series?

James: The most rewarding aspect has been the whole experience I think. I will probably never have another experience like this one in my lifetime. I’m taking away from this experience so many friends that I will have for life and that has been the most rewarding thing. And then, to be able to do other things like the charity basketball game, and to be part of raising money for other good causes through the show as we have in the past, that is rewarding as well.

Aced: What are some of the things you have learned about yourself through playing this character?

James: Um…..that’s an interesting question. I’m not really sure how much about myself I’ve learned through playing Nate. I’ve learned a lot about myself as an actor just from the experience, and working the hours, and playing in the heat of the moment, that has taught me a lot. But as a person, I don’t think he can teach me too much.

Aced: What types of projects and things do you have going on that will be happening in the near future?

James: We get a five-week break and I’m gonna get some stuff together and enjoy the break, and then get ready for the sixth season.

Aced : What are some of the things you look forward to during your down time?

James: Just relaxing. I have a 20-foot boat which is what I’m on right now. Just getting my bearings, getting ready for the next season and that’s pretty much it. I am not going to do too much traveling. I don’t want to tire myself out.

Aced: Do you like fishing on your boat?

James: No, I’m not really into fishing. I just like to hang out and have a few friends out here on the water. That is always a really nice experience.

Sounds like heaven! Filming for season six will start soon enough, and while James lounges on his boat anticipating his return to work, the rest of the fans will be waiting anxiously for the fall, when One Tree Hill returns.

The 67th Annual Golden Globes: Moments That Won & Failed

ricky67thggWe could tell, just by host Ricky Gervais' opening monologue, that the 67th Golden Globes were going to be totally ACE this year. For the most part, we were right. We laughed. We gaped in shock. We threw stuff at the TV (sad, but true). We nodded off a couple of times.

Here's our recap of the best and worst moments of last night's ...

And the Saints Go Marching In

nfllogoWell, last night's Super Bowl was as I personally predicted. It was a low-scoring, tight game ... until ... the Saints came marching in. In the fourth quarter, with Indy up 17 to 16, the Saints scored on a pass from Drew Brees to Jeremy Shockey. They then went for a two-point conversion. After it was called no ...

D'OH! Not again, we’re the longest running show on television?  Wonder if television runs out, then what? Surrogates, an Out-of-Body Experience
