Invoking 2, an Anthology of Horror

INVOKING boxart

Here’s a fairly good anthology of horror flicks on one DVD. It’s called Invoking 2 and features an unknown cast that actually pretty darn good and directors that know their stuff. The 6 short films cover a variety of horror subjects of which a couple could raise many goosebumps.

The first entry is called U-TURN and it’s a quickie about the paranormal that will having you guessing on “what just happened.” The second short film called INSANE takes you into an abandoned mental hospital where a director’s searching for allocation to shoot his next film. The third film called ALONE and it’s a spooky little film about a paranoid teen who ends up home alone following a spell in a rehab facility. Film number four is called DO NOT DISTURB where we find Phillip in a hotel room after fleeing a murder scene. The movie gets very tense and has a slick way of getting to the horror side of your psyche.

In movie number 5 called NATAL which literally means the place and time of one’s birth deals with a girl who has returned from a mental health facility following an attempted suicide. She invites her boyfriend, best friend and his girlfriend up to her parents secluded vacation home on a lake where nothing nice happens. In the final selection called MELISSA we find a teen on the phone with 911 about someone outside her house with a knife.

The directors in all of the film do their jobs well, but what really saves their movies are the young budding actors that bring their characters to life. The following are the cast members of each of the movies: U-TURN stars Asher Kennedy, Iara Mandyn, Will Urbina and Will McMichael, INSANE features Andrew Fleming, Shannon Lahaie and Meagan McNichol, NATAL cast includes Jessica Fratus, Erik Moody, Andrew Sawyer, and Chara Vitoria Gannet, ALONE stars Becca Adams and MELISSA features Rachel Keefe.
