You’ve seen him in Bridge To Terabithia, Zathura  and the Journey to the Center of the Earth-- now you get to see Josh Hutcherson brave crazy creatures, terrible tornadoes and volatile volcanoes in this new theatrical adventure, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

In this new adventurous romp through the legendary mysterious island, Josh reprises his role as Sean Anderson, who goes to the aide of his grandfather (Michael Caine) after he receives a distress signal. This island is filled with strange life forms, a mountain of gold, volcanoes and a few other secrets hidden carefully beneath the surface.

Sean’s new stepfather (Dwayne Johnson) catches wind of his plan to go to this island to save his grandfather, and decides to join him (mainly because he couldn’t stop him from going). This is where the story begins …

They fly to the island with the help of a helicopter pilot played by Luis Guzman — and of course the story would not be complete unless there was the love-interest daughter for Sean who tags along (played by Vanessa Hudgens) as well.

Naturally, there is a catch to this beautiful, yet-to-be-discovered island … it’s about to be forced under the sea (again) by shockwaves resulting from rapid seismic activity. Will they be able to grab his grandfather and get off the island before they get washed away in a violent tide? Eh, maybe. You’ll have to watch it to find out. Meanwhile, check out the trailer below.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is due in theaters 10 February 2012.
