It won’t be long before a new comedy hits the big screen on May 8. Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara star in Hot Pursuit. It’s a quirky little flick about a cop (Witherspoon) whose uptight, by-the-book antics do not serve her well when she is assigned to protect a too-cool-for-school widow of a drug boss who likes to live life by anything but the “book”.

These two go through crazy scenarios as they race across Texas, pursued by dirty cops and hired gunmen. And if that’s not enough to make you watch, Reese enacting a scene where her character is high on cocaine should be enough.

Reese laughs, “I had so much fun. I took Excedrin and drank three cups of coffee. I jumped all over the convenience store and made up funny stuff. It was crazy.”  Of course, Sofia being the free spirit in their theatrical relationship, suggested Reese really go on cocaine to know what the experience was actually like. Reese’s response, “Uh. No.”

“This movie is very special. It is not like the normal movie. This is a movie where these two women are different and have different personalities and they are trying to achieve the same thing while trying to survive. Young girls can learn many things from this relationship. You don’t have to do the same things or be the same to understand another human being and support each other,” says Vergara.

Reese had to speak some Spanish in this movie. Sofia gave a quick critique … “Well, it was not very good. It was not her best work.”

Reese interjects, laughing, “No respect at all…”

Sofia continues, “That was actually one of my favorite scenes because she had to struggle a lot. I could see the fear in her eyes. I could see anxiety sometimes … the confusion … so it was great because that’s how I feel every single scene of my life.”

“I tried not to help her too much because it was a personal thing that I was experiencing that I really liked. So, when I saw the whole movie I was like, oh my God, now I understand why people laugh so much at me. It’s hysterical to see somebody trying to talk in a language they don’t know and look confused and everything,” Vergara laughs.

All jokes aside, Sofia talks about Reese’s great vision behind the production of this movie and how grateful she was to work with her in this film. The two really play well off of one another and it is a great indication of the chemistry they share on screen. One comic moment drops after the other in this upcoming side-splitter.

Make sure you check out Hot Pursuit in theaters, out May 8.
