6 Easy and Fast Ways to Get Healthier

It only takes a few small changes each day to get you feeling fantastic. Here’s a quick look at some of them.

Supplements

There are all sorts of natural supplements on the market today. The thing about them is that they’re generally taken in addition to the vitamins and nutrients you get every day in your diet. Some of them are additional vitamins while others serve a variety of purposes. Take probiotics, for example. Yes, you can find them in foods such as fermented veggies, kefir, and yogurt, but many of us don’t eat these things on a daily basis. You have healthy bacteria in your gut already, but we need to work to keep a healthy balance. That’s what things like probiotics are for.

Don’t Lose Sleep

Do you find that your nerves keep you awake at night? This can keep sleep at bay for quite a few people. When your mind begins to race while you’re in bed, think about the challenges you’re likely to face the next day. Try taking deep, long breaths while thinking about your breathing. It can take a bit of practice, but if you begin to do this on a regular basis, you’ll essentially be teaching your body how to relax.

Fly Right

When it comes to keeping healthy while you’re flying, you know that air vent over your seat? Turn it on. One way to remain healthy on a flight is to be conscientious regarding all of the germs that can be found on your typical airplane. Turn that vent on and turn it so that the air blows right down into your face. The air coming from that vent is filtered and it’ll create a sort of barrier that’ll keep those airplane germs that are floating around the cabin from finding their way into your mouth and nose.

Get Your Shots

If you already get a flu vaccine on a yearly basis, you’re doing great. Now you need to add a TDaP shot to that. This is a vaccine against pertussis, diphtheria, and tetanus. Pertussis is a dangerous respiratory illness that’s also known as whooping cough and is more prevalent in the US than you might think. For most adults, what this means is a cough that can be rather nasty. For children, this can be much worse. If you’re around kids or have them, it’s critical to get that vaccination. Remember that even if you had the shot when you were a child, you still need a booster as an adult. You need the tetanus part of that shot at least once a decade too.

Wash the Sheets

One of the major triggers of allergies are little critters known as dust mites. The thing is, these animals love living right in your bed. Do what you can to get rid of this allergen by washing your pillowcases and sheets once a week in very hot water. It’s also recommended that you use duvet and mattress covers that were designed to keep out the dust mites.

Get Out

Finally, go outside to get some fresh air. Fresh air happens to be full of negative ions that increase good feelings, and this can also boost the oxygen that goes to your brain. If you’re at all able to, combine your daily dose of fresh air with exercise, even if it’s simply a short walk around the block. Physical activity provides a natural boost to things like your energy and endorphin levels. If you have kids, play outside with them for a short time. If you have dogs, take them for a walk. Getting outside is a great way to get healthier.
