Do you ever feel like your parents are too involved? Like for instance, do your parents want to know everything you do? Do they include themselves when you hang out with your friends? Blockers is a wild and crazy film, that has three teenage girls plotting to do something their parents would not approve of. Their parents are simply losing it, and going too far to try and save their girls from this big mistake.
The premise of the story is that three girls want to lose their virginity on prom night. Julie (Kathryn Newton), the popular preppy girl, has and plans a perfect romantic type vision about her experience with Austin (Graham Phillips). Kayla (Geraldine Viswanathan), the athletic type, just wants to get it over with and plans to spend her experience with her lab partner Conner (Miles Robbins). Lastly, Sam (Gideon Aldon), the shy type, plans to join the girls in the pact with her boyfriend Chad (Jimmy Bellinger), but she is not sure what she really wants.
The parents, over protective, nurturing, caring, and close with their daughters, may find that they need to rethink things. When they get tipped off about their daughter’s pact, things go haywire. Lisa (Leslie Mann), Julie’s mother, is a single mom that is the best friend type parent and tries to do everything with her daughter. Mitchell (John Cena), Kayla’s father, is a very health conscience body builder with a sensitive side. His wife Marcie (Sarayu Blue), is a modern women who feels that here daughter knows what’s best and should not be treated with a double standard. Finally, Hunter (Ike Barinholz), Sam’s father is a divorced parent who does not have the closeness he wants with his daughter. Now they have to make a decision, should they stop their daughters from making this big mistake?![]()
Director Kay Cannon does a fantastic job with putting the story together. The scenes are well directed and the presentation is incredibly composed. The outrageous antics that are displayed throughout the picture keep you laughing and wondering what will happen next. The cast is perfect for this storyline and helps bring out an impressive adventure for all to see.
Blockers is a very entertaining and hilarious film that can almost seem realistic if you have daughters of your own. Fathers and mothers can be overprotective of their children, especially when learning things they have no control over. But this smart version of every parent’s nightmare will keep you rolling in your seats.

Final Comment: I based my grade on the outstanding and hysterical storyline, with a marvelous performance by all. (4 out of 5 Stars)
