Review by Ian Delia for ACED  Magazine

Before attending the special screening of Bob’s Burgers the Movie, I had never watched the TV show “Bob’s Burgers”. Once I left the theater after seeing the show on the big screen, that all changed. Of course, any cartoon show brought to theaters has comparable traits to similar shows. For example, the film reminded me a lot of “The Simpsons Movie”, predictable, yet funny.

Being completely uninformed about this television show is okay as the dialogue is catchy and fun to hear. However, not knowing much about the characters may be a bit of a problem, so knowing my friend was hooked on the show, we went to the special screening together with him as my wingman. Bring someone who has watched the show before, he knows the background of each of the characters and it is best to know who each one is beforehand because questions will arise.

If you do not know already, I was told the children of Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) and Linda Belcher (John Roberts) completely take the cake with comedy. And the children are definitely what brings the whole thing together. I now have a favorite voice actress who plays Louise (Kristen Schall). Her sister and brother, are Tina (Dan Mintz) and Gene (Eugene Mirman). They complement her character with both dry and dark humor and make the show even funnier`.

The adventure they undergo is quite random with many to be expected turns. It’s a movie with lot of adult humor alongside a fairly basic storyline. To simplify the story as I saw it, it’s about a restaurant coving up a murderous plan to take the wealth of others. Putting their comedic spin on the subject, Bobs Burgers did the show justice. But, as I said, I walked in not expecting much. That said, however, after I got back home from the theater I threw the Bob’s Burgers show on Fox Network on the TV and the laughs continued.

Don’t get me wrong, the best way to view this film is at your local movie theater so you can see the wacky family on the big screen. If you watch at least one episode of the TV show, it will help. The movie is Rated PG-13 by the MPAA for rude/suggestive material and language.
