If You Wave to Your Friends with this App, they Can Track You Anywhere …

Every step you take. Every move you make. Every step you take, every move you make, I’ll be watching you … on my new Wave app. Wave is a new free app that lets users share their location with one another in real time. It’s dynamic and customizable, and most importantly it’s totally private because all data is automatically encrypted (except to those whom you “share” with). Waves are two-way geoconversations, and they last only as long as users want them to.

The plus, if you have kids and you want to be able to track their whereabouts, this is a great app. When a Wave request is accepted, both the sender and the recipient can see one another’s precise locations for as long or as short a period as they choose. And Group Waves make it simple to organize sports practices, team meetings, parties, and more, especially when you set a meeting point within the app. But, do you really want an entire group of people to be able to track your every move?

Even if you can opt out of a Wave. What if you forget? This could potentially lead to some not-so-friendly scenarios … especially with the Group Waves.

How it Works

  • Download the free Wave app for iPhone or Android (Windows Phone coming soon)
  • Sign up by confirming your phone number and importing your contacts. Wave automatically detects the contacts in your phone who also have the Wave app installed
  • Make sure notifications are turned on and you’re connected to 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi
  • Open a Wave by sending a request or accepting one, and you’re set

Now the choice is yours. Do you Wave so people can watch every step you take or do you just stick to text messages … “OMW”, “BRT”, “BTN10”,  “HERE”….
