“Impulse” Cast Reveals Insights About Season 2

The YouTube-based series “Impulse” returns for Season 2 with 10 episodes. The show’s lead, Henrietta “Henry” Cole (Maddie Hasson), a rebellious 16-year-old who narrowly escaped a sexual assault by using her “jumping” powers, will face new challenges. The sophomore season will pull Henry and those around her in new directions that reveal conflicts both internal and external. What follows are roundtable interviews with cast and producer.

In Season 1, we saw Henry jump from the quarry, a burning building, the front of a train, and even from the barrel of a gun. The jumps have forced her to learn how to control her newfound ability. Still, there are unexpected layers to Henry’s teleportation that may benefit her in the long run.

At the end of episode eight, Henry (Maddie Hasson) comes out of a mind-trip coma and makes a mad dash to save Jenna (Sarah Desjardins). At this point, the two girls have finally become protective of each other.

In episode nine, Henry works to explain her emotional repression to Jenna. In fact, Henry has never really opened up to anyone. Jenna comes to realize just how much Henry has sacrificed to keep everything bottled up inside.

In episode ten, we see a happier, more carefree side of Henry at the bowling alley. We learn that she has accepted the fact that she and Cleo should stay in Reston. It’s clear, Henry wants to avoid Clay (Tanner Stine). But she still wants to be with Jenna, Townes (Daniel Maslany) and Thomas (Matt Gordon). This episode also shows us a different side of Townes when he learns why Henry started teleporting.

The last episode also shows how Clay and Henry can’t seem to avoid each other, being brought together by forces outside their control. “Impulse” clearly underscores how some survivors not only carry memories of their assault but can be repeatedly confronted with their attackers.
