Jessie and the Elf Boy, Enchanting on DVD

Huck Whittle in JESSIE AND THE ELF BOY on DVD

Something for the whole family, the movie JESSIE AND THE ELF BOY tells a tale of friendship and surprise. The production is very good and it’s a storyline that even the youngsters will like. Watch it with mom to see her giggles during the hair dressing scenes. That said, the film is an independent effort and you can see the quality of an afternoon matinee on TV. But don’t let that bother you as it plays normally on DVD than it would have on a huge theater screen.

A young girl lived on the edge of a forest where she met Ghillie Dhu a young elf her age. But not long after time spent with him her mother moves away to the city. There we meet Jessie who now wants to follow in the steps of her mother who is now a renowned beautician. She gets a job at a local hair salon where she wants to start her career. But it’s not an easy task as the shop manager will not stand for being better than her understudy, especially the daughter of Valerie the owner of many shops across the country.

When Jessie gets a visit from the elf, things start to change and a very amusing film plays out. Director Phillip Todd does a great job of bringing all the elements together in this heartwarming film filled with surprises. The competitive edge in the hair styling business may be the base of the story, but it’s more than that as family values, clean dialogue and lessons are to be learned. Todd makes his film enchanting, compelling and a lot of fun.

Jessie and the Elf Boy has not been rated by the MPAA, but there is no offensive material. Think G to PG, depending on the age of your children. You may even want to watch the film yourself with your kids as there are a lot of laughs along the way that you may have and that may go beyond what youngsters know. But have some tissues nearby for happy tears. For teen children, mostly female, 4 out of 5 Stars.
