Microsoft Says, Give People The Finger

There is a new Windows 10 coming to town, and it is giving you the finger …

As Gizmodo reported Monday, Windows 10 will allow users to send and receive a hand with the middle finger extended. The update will come with a couple of upgrades for existing emojis, like a sassier image for the information desk person, which you probably thought was a woman flipping her hair sarcastically.

Per Emojipedia, the middle finger will look like this on Windows:

The Windows update is expected later this year. In it, you will be able to apply a range of skin tone modifiers to emojis, so you can insult your friends with a true melting pot of middle fingers.

The middle finger has technically been possible to implement since last year, but most services don’t allow it. Windows users might be flipping each other off, but Apple won’t allow it to render for their users – yet.

Windows 10 will be available on most devices, but emoji are well known for their presence in the world of smartphones, where they’re plugged into texts and social media posts. If these middle-fingered emoji are only visible in the world of Microsoft, mainly those with Windows smartphones will be able to utilize it in the beginning. Whether Android or other smartphone OS devices will eventually allow it is yet to be determined.
