Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso were approached to create a song for the soundtrack to Disney•Pixar’s Monsters University. You’re thinking – Disney … music must be lame. Not so for all you techno, electronica geeks out there. “Roar” actually delivers a pretty decent drop a ways into the track.
Both Axwell and Sebastian are well known in the ever-growing electronic dance community. They had to emulate a sound that relayed the mood of a “monster” frat dance party in the movie. “We wanted to keep it funny, funky and at the same time a bit cool with a hint of monsters in it,” said Axwell. “Roar” is featured on the official soundtrack available on June 18 via Walt Disney Records.
Monsters University boasts the star voices of Billy Crystal and John Goodman. The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in 3D in select theaters.
