Elza Kephart’s Horror comedy has reached back into the past with Slaxx, a storyline that makes the absurd a lot of fun. Taking no time to start spilling blood in this far out ditty, the carnage doesn’t stop until the final zipper. While the target audience checks out at teens to thirties, those that like a lot of mayhem mixed with tongue in cheek humor should enjoy it as well. You can check out Slaxx now on DVD, VOD and Digital HD.
It’s a big day for CCC super clothing store as they have received a shipment of Super Shaper jeans made with a cotton fabric only grown in India. The jeans are designed to fit anyone and forms to the body for a perfect shape and are the highlight of their Monday Madness Sale. Store manager Craig (Brett Donahue) is in a dither trying to get everyone in place for the opening in the morning where they will have company owner Harold Lansgrove (Stephen Bogaert) on hand to speak to the expected large customer crowd.

Newbie floor salesperson Libby (Romane Denis) is wide eyed and ready to pitch in on this her first day. She has been assigned to work for Hunter (Jessica B. Hill) and Jemma (Janneke Talbot) who are the top sales clerks and she feels confident. They expect her to be ready in the early morning and of course work tonight setting up. Craig has employees running all over the store making things look their best, but his two stars, Hunter and Jemma, have gone missing.
When Jemma is found dead and bloody in the ladies room by Libby, she informs Craig. He tells her it’s awful, but since they are in lockdown till morning without communications to report the death, it will have to wait. Director Elza Kephart does a good job of putting the film together with several surprises that make the movie fun to watch.

The comedy horror flick reminds me of back in the day when objects were the killers. If you you’ve seen Attack of the Killer Tomatoes or any of the four sequels you should get the idea on where this horror comedy is going. There have been many killer films since the late 1970’s including donuts, tires, dolls, a sofa and etc. but, not so many that the current horror fans would certainly welcome a new batch.
Bonus features on the DVD include:
“The Story Behind SLAXX”
“The Pants Are Alive!”
“Producing a Killer Pants Movie”
“Call In the Death Consultant”
“Casting SLAXX”
“Behind-the-Scenes Photo Gallery”

The film was rated TV-MA on VOD and contains violence, gore, profanity, and disturbing images. There are some sexual innuendoes and offhanded remarks as well. My rating is above average, (grade “B”) for the target audience.
