SUZI Q – A Music Icon

Suzi Quatro in her documentary SUZi Q

Following one of the most identifiable female icons in the history of Rock n’ Roll, the movie SUZi Q puts Susan Quatro on stage through an energetic documentary film. The film is nicely directed, spools out from early age to today, and uses multiple mediums to tell her story. It’s about taking chances, pulling your weight and getting that one lucky break. July 1, 2020 virtual event and on DVD and VOD July 7.

I’m not going to tell you her story, but most of her followers remember the high powered Detroit City singer songwriter Suzi Q as the daring bass player that had the right voice to take center stage. She was the first female player of that instrument that took the world by storm. With two sisters her first audience exposure came with the all-girl The Pleasure Seekers. Following that is the rest of the story that’s all covered here and supported by some of the best in the industry.

On hand to tell the story are Alice Cooper, Deborah Harry (Blondie), Joan Jett, Cherie Currie (The Runaways), Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Donita Sparks (L7), Henry Winkler (Happy Days), Kathy Valentine (The GoGo’s), KT Tunstall, members of the Quatro family, and many more.

Directors Liam Firmager and Tait Brady make the documentary high powered using as much as they could jam into the hour and 30 minutes film from family to stardom and today. From home movies, career concerts, stage, film, personal interviews and even scenes from her appearances on TV including Happy Days.

The bottom line is that Suzi Quatro is still performing live on her 2020-2021 tour throughout Germany (subject to play dates).

The movie SUZi Q has not been rated by the MPAA, but I could find no offensive material.
