The Glitch Mob released their remix of Metallica’s “Lords of Summer” today, while also announcing that they have been selected as anthem of the X Games Austin 2015. This release has received much praise and it is only going to get better for Glitch Mob fans.
The band will be headlining the X Games Austin 2015 from June 4-7 alongside Nicki Minaj and Metallica. This event inspired them to mix up the “Lords of Summer” into a head-banging, heart-pounding electro masterpiece. As a result, the remix was selected as the official event’s anthem. It’s already being featured in various ad campaigns, and will be showcased in future media telecasts on ABC and ESPN as well.
“Metallica is one of the greatest, heaviest, and most significant bands of all time. They defined heavy music as we know it today,” said The Glitch Mob. “We listened to their catalog religiously. ‘And Justice For All’ is one of the greatest albums ever—it has an immersive narrative, deep emotion, and gnarly power. Our mission has always been to bring that same raw energy into our own electronic music. It was a true honor to remix Metallica … to collaborate with our heroes.”
Even better, fans will be happy to know the band will be doing a series of spring and summer tour dates. They will also participate in several festivals: Sasquatch, Electric Zoo and Northcoast, to name a few.
