Wonderful Wonder Woman opens this holiday and it serves all family members that have some maturity. While it is more female strong, there is enough excitement to compensate for those who are staunch action and adventure fans. If you have a theater open in your state and city seek out IMAX if you can get a ticket. However, hopefully you have a big screen TV as it plays on HBO Max for your home viewing. The PG-13 RATING is for the sequences of action and violence some of which get a bit intense, so parents beware.
In this sequel called Wonder Woman 1984 “WW84” we find our hero Diana (Gal Gadot), a princess, back when she was young competing on an obstacle course against her fellow and older female amazon warriors as a rite of passage. It’s a very exciting opening and the special effects and pounding theme make it a nice start to the film. Beyond that we flash forward to find Diana Princes is now a member of society in the year 1984. She is in Washington DC working in the field of anthropology and relics. In her department they have been given a special wish relic by the FBI and the film centers around a theft and an attempt to take over the world.

However, while the story is more of a Superman reflection in saving people, it does have some lag time that as a male does make the film drag a bit. A love story develops between Diana and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and I personally found it a bit boring and became anxious to get into the adventure beyond this rekindling of a love she had lost in the previous film. It may help a bit if you have a copy of the first Wonder Woman so you can be familiar with Steve Trevor. But, if you are a diehard action fan, just relax as the relationship is significant to the plot and adds some comedy.
Stay for a credits to get a parting scene early on. Next up for Gal Gadot will be roles in two projects Zack Snyder’s Justice League (a TV Mini-Series) bowing in 2021 and it has completed production. Also it has been announced, but not dated, that Justice League Part Two will be coming out in theaters sometime in probably 2023. You can get more of Gadot this coming year for Death on the Nile that has been completed, Red Notice that is in Post-Production and then as Cleopatra is in pre-production for 2022.

My star rating for this one is 3.5 out of 5 for action adventure fans, 4.0 for the romance fans.
