Charlie’s Farm, a Bloody Screamer

CHARLIE's Farm boxart

If you like Halloween to be scary and bloody then you’ll want to see the film Charlie’s Farm. The movie now on DVD and VOD has all the trappings of some of the most famous horror flicks like Friday the 13th and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Made to frighten the movie has an ominous beginning leading to a ghastly finale. Good acting and direction make this flick horrifyingly evil. If you didn’t get enough scares on Halloween then pick this film up on November 3rd wherever DVD’s are sold.

Jason (Dean Kirkright) and Mick (Sam Coward) are buddies in their early 20’s and carefree. One afternoon they ask Jason’s girlfriend Natasha (Tara Reid) if she would call her friend Melanie (Allira Jaques) so the four of them could have a fun weekend together. Mick has his eye for Melanie and he thinks that if he can get her to someplace where they can be alone, he’ll have a chance to win her over. Looking for something different and secluded Mick suggest going to Charlie’s Farm an urban legend destination where a serial killer was killed by towns people.

The four set out for the 1000 acre site for a camp out figuring they can get extra close to the girls. Director and writer Chris Sun (Daddy’s Little Girl) doesn’t waste any time getting the two couples to the farm where they bunk down for the night following a spooky tale by Mick over a campfire on how grisly the family was that lived there. Flash backs to the atrocities are used to show the horror that John Wilson (Bill Moseley) his wife Meredith (Trudi Ross) and young son Charlie (Cameron Caulfield) cast upon backpackers who walked onto their farm.

Sun sets up his audience well with an acid rock opening and ominous music throughout his fright show. His locations and sets of the decaying house and rickety barn are perfect for the mayhem that begins from the moment the couples lay down to sleep the first night at the farm. Using some excellent make-up, prosthetics and other effects to make the gore look real and the violence wicked, his actors try to outwit Charlie (Nathan Jones) the only remaining member of the Wilson family.
