“Cybergeddon” An Intriguing Thriller

Rabbit and Chloe look for clues to finding Gustav

CYBERGEDDEN box

An intriguing cyber theft thriller Cybergeddon has been released on DVD.  It’s a very cool film that takes you into a devious plot to end internet communications all over the world.  Originally an online web miniseries, the story has a lot of plot twists and action to keep the viewer enthralled for over 90 minutes.  If you are a fan of suspense filled dramas that are based on science fiction, then check out Cybergeddon.

The film centers on Chloe Jocelyn (Missy Peregrym) a field FBI agent who takes down Gustov Dobreff (Olivier Martinez) one of the most wanted criminals in the world for cyber terrorism at a church in in Prague. Dobreff gets sentenced to life in prison at a Czechoslovakian detention center. Years have gone by and Chloe has been assigned to a post in Washington DC at the FBI Cyber Nerve Center where she has worked her way up to Senior Special Agent with her eye on a directorship.

Dobreff gets transferred to a prison in his home country of the Ukraine where he buys his way out of jail. He works his computers to shut down the control system at the LA Municipal Water Plant in California putting 2 million people in danger of water contamination.  The FBI gets word that someone in the FBI has been involved and it points to Chloe.  She gets arrested and when she finds an opportunity, she escapes and meets up with Rabbit (Kick Gurry) a super hacker. Here she finds out that Dobreff has framed her as a reprisal for capturing him.

With the FBI breathing down her neck and the most vicious cyber terrorist in the world getting her deeper into danger, Chloe starts to retaliate with a plan of her own. Director Diego Velasco does a remarkable job of creating the ultimate cat and mouse thriller with many twists that keep it compelling throughout.  He uses special effects to show the workings of the internet making it a big part of the movie.  With hackers racing to stop Gustav, Velasco ups the intensity of the story.  With time running out while his main character tries to keep ahead of the FBI who’s hot on her tail, he works in some very tough antagonists sent by Gustav.

Missy Peregrym as Chloe gives a great performance as the FBI Agent who comes under suspicion.  She has the agility and energy to pull off some very tricky scenes that have her being chased by fellow agents and Gustav’s henchmen. She also starred in the 52 episodes of TV’s “Rookie Blue” as Andy McNally. In support of her role Efran Ellis Edraki plays Conrad her partner when they captured Gustav.  He’s now pursuing Chloe thinking she’s a double agent. He’s had roles in several television series and recently was seen in seven episodes of “Beyblade: Shogun Steel”.

Cybergeddon has not been rated by the MPAA but contains violence, language and brutality.  The film is based on web miniseries with the same name that aired 9 episodes in 2012. Be cautious when deciding to allow immature children see the film as it does have some scenes that are inappropriate for adolescents.

The video quality is very good and uses the full 1.78:1 full HD 16×9 screen.  The film displays clear and clean on my television with brilliant color and special effects.  The sound quality using the Dolby Digital 5.1 comes through loud and clear.  If you have a system that allows surround, you’ll experience the sides and back audio as well.
