I Love You Because

Originally created in 2012 by two San Diego High School seniors, Trinity Theatre Company was a space where anyone with an interest in the performing arts felt welcome. Today, Trinity has consistently showcased the talents of seasoned professionals paired with people new to the stage, or those returning after a long hiatus. In 2013, Trinity expanded to include arts education. The company now has a thriving program that is contracted with two school districts in San Diego County, including the San Diego Unified School District/San Diego Foundation Level Up program, which provides summer enrichment programs.

In the delightful musical comedy, I Love You Because, a talented and enthusiastic cast deliver a charming, updated rendition of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Connor Boyd, Jordan Hall Campbell,Tim Baran, and Dylan Landau

The modern love story, told through the eyes of four New Yorkers, depicts heartbreak and joy as they navigate the minefield of love in a big city. The performance was quite engaging and delivered on the promise of star-crossed lovers trying find their way through all those lost moments when we forget the power of words and their impact on feelings. The intertwining love stories of two couples offered an interesting contrast in how to mend fences and establish lasting relationships.

Connor Boyd as Austin

Underscored by fun and witty music, I Love You Because reveals what happens if you let go of your expectations and open your heart to what life really has to offer. Based on Austen’s novel, the small but mighty cast of six take the stage to show the different ways love can present itself when you least expect it.
