If you are looking for a night out with some action and thrills, Shelter is now playing at theaters across America. Set on an island near Ireland/Scotland, the scenery is quite stunning and camerawork outstanding. The locations fit the storyline and star Jason Statham does his level best to entertain.
Mason (Jason Statham) is a former Assassin in hiding and has been running from his past life while tending a rotting light house on a rocky shore. Content with his daily routine including a local delivery of food and supplies, it all comes crashing down when a lethal storm changes all that leaving teenage passenger on the supply boat, Jesse (Bodhi Rae Breathnach, half dead on his shore. Needing medical supplies Mason goes to the mainland only to be recognized. When word gets back to the military as to his whereabouts, saving his life and that of the girl will be a very difficult task.

On the shoulders of Jason Statham and first time co-starring role teen Bodhi Rae Breathnach, the movie Shelter puts on an above average show. Statham does his level best to command the move, but the lengthy script seems to drag rather than excite. The choreography is just mediocre in this one during fighting scenes and realism suffers a bit throughout.
Shelter has been rated R by the MPAA for violence and some language. Not what you would expect from other Statham films with the absence of some brutality like his iconic movies “Crank” and “The Beekeeper”. The film should attract his admirers to the film, but other curious fans may want to wait until the streaming begins in late February.
