Releasing in theaters today the animated film Minions & Monsters explodes on the big screen. It’s so crazy it’s the epitome of madness. For youngsters there’s a lot to see, but scene changes take place so often that the real story is quickly buried. However, if you are a fan of the banana loving characters and are in the older crowd, you’ll find a story hidden in the treasured years of movie magic. Moms be ready for some tugs and hugs with this one as it’s not the conventional Minions that are roaming the planet. The rest of you run to see the wacky film!

Minions & Monsters follows the Minions in 1920s Hollywood as they search for frightening creatures for their monster movie, partner with a green creature, and must save the planet after unleashing monsters. Says the synopses provided by the studio. And, only if you are beyond your heyday will you understand what that means. The rest of the audience will laugh at the munchkins as they search for the maddest of the wicked monsters so they can pay homage. What makes the movie good from a critic’s point of view involves the production of the film that’s more of a sales tool than a sequel or a prequel. That, and if you are a connoisseur of Minion insanity and actually understand the language within the dialogue of the yellow heroes, it’s an easy assessment.

Minions & Monsters is playing in several formats including IMAX that is beyond amazing when it comes to watching the story play out. If you are in a theater that has the format, and you have young children in tow, I suggest you avoid that auditorium. The sound in all auditoriums is often adequate, but if you like to be surrounded by the chatter of the minions than choose Dolby Cinema for the best experience.

Minions & Monsters has been rated PG by the MPA for violence/action, language and rude/macabre humor. With tons of minions dealing with choosing monsters like Great White sharks to mummies and some underwater creatures thrown in for good measure, the family will have a lot to look at in this Gem. I will actually caution bringing immature children to see the film though as it does get very loud, the chatter is not idealistic and the slap stick humor may a bit much. Try checking out some trailers on the internet to get the idea and the feel of the film that they will be watching.
