One of the most intriguing television series Perception keeps you guessing and often messes with you head with plots that are fresh and fascinating. The first season has just been released on DVD and even if you already experienced the challenges on TV that Dr. Daniel Pierce unravels, seeing them again for a second time actually makes for good entertainment. If you missed any of the 10 episodes watch them now before the new season starts in June.
The series features strange crime scene investigator Dr. Daniel Pierce who’s very different than other researchers. He’s brilliant and has the powers to see intricate details in a case that allow him to solve them. Though recruited by the FBI for his masterful understanding of the human mind, Daniel’s odd and offbeat view makes it difficult for him to get close to

anyone. His former student, Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), is one of the few people willing to accept Daniel’s peculiarities in exchange for his imaginative solutions. Two very different personalities join forces as they try to tackle the Bureau’s most complex cases.
I found the series to be very cool, much different than most CSI shows as Daniel seems to get way in over his head before rising from the drowning pool he’s created. I looked forward to every chapter each week and couldn’t wait to see Eric McCormack in the role of Daniel as he takes on another great case. I applaud the producers who saw fit to bring back the show with a 14 episode season starting on June 25th on TNT cable TV.
The video quality of the DVD is very good and I am happy to say it fits 16×9 HD televisions with its 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The colors played through my Blu-ray player are as good as when the disc is used on my DVD player. I found no distortion and the clarity is crystal clear.
The sound using the Dolby Digital 5.1 surround provides clear dialogue and special sound effects and plays well on my speaker set up. Even played using the television’s speakers you’ll be able to hear every word.
Be cautious when deciding to allow anyone under 14 to see the program as it does have some scenes that may be inappropriate for young children.
FINAL ANALYSIS: A great show with intriguing stories. [rating=5]
