Earlier this week Italian contemporary composer/producer Robert Miles released his Th1rt3en Remixes EP, a companion piece to February’s full length album Th1rt3en (Salt Records), featuring three remixed tracks off of that album. He also set loose a remix single on it’s own, “Miniature World” with the original track included. Clickety click to check out the video.
More like an extremely visceral opening credits sequence to some sharply directed and highly stylized indie film as opposed to a ‘music video’, the official clip for “Miniature World” encapsulates the smooth urgency of Miles’ ever-evolving sound. It’s incredibly bad-ass; both as a single that functions as a sort of ‘Come Inside’ beacon leading to the discovery of the unique mixture of deeply resonant jazz influenced electro-rock, and as a stand-alone summer theme.

There isn’t much done to Miles’ original track in the remix, other than adding some electronic flourishes here and there. The changes however, are effective enough to switch gears from ‘picture me rolling though the streets’ to ‘watch me swaying on the dancefloor’ with hardly any bumps in the road.
Opening the Th1rt3en Remixes EP, “Deep End (Robert Miles Hypnotronic Mix)” is a more up tempo track with a slow open that builds the tension nicely while still leaving the milieu as cool as whipped cream. And that is just the way we like it, see.
