SEFCA Chooses “ROMA” for Best Film 2018

The Southeastern Film Critics Association made up of the southern states with over 50 members, has chosen ROMA as their number one film for 2018. The movie tells the story of a maid in the household of a well to do family in Mexico City who toils everyday while taking care of the four young children. The matriarch of the family, Antonio, a doctor, has taken advantage of her being poor and dominates her time keeping the woman away from her own private life. It’s a sad film that shows how dominant the upper middle class is and the almost slavery that gets carried out in a broken system of life in Mexico.

The following are their choices in the 14 categories including Best Actor, Best Actress and Director. A runner-up has also been named by the group.
