Now on high definition Blu-ray and Digital, The Bob’s Burgers Movie is now available for home viewing. The animated feature based on the Television series, did very well considering the competition from the mega films Top Gun: Maverick and Minions: The Rise of Gru eating up some major popcorn during the same period. But, now with it being released for home viewing and on-the-go, it should keep moving up in the rankings.

The film has a lot of surprises and even a musical track to keep fans of the show entertained throughout. In this story we find the Belcher family in a bit of a pickle with expenses that have caused them to not pay their mortgage on the restaurant. Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) have pleaded with the bank for a loan and have gone to the owner and asked for an extension, but it’s a no go.

On the verge of closing nothing worse could happen, right? Wrong. A huge sinkhole develops overnight at the front door of their Burger shop. But the kids, Louise (Kristen Schall), Tina (Dan Mintz) and Gene (Eugene Mirman) have a plan that includes some risky detective type work. Everything starts to get weird and with a lot of razzle dazzle the three kids get deeper into a mystery that smells of danger.

Some of the low points however are the stretching of scenes and for me, the dialogue that was put on music made it feel a bit Broadway instead of Hollywood. While the tale is kind of kooky at times, it gets commonplace for a mystery that turns into “The Goonies.” But, not being a huge fan and maybe out of the target audience range, has something to do with my take on the film.

The Bob’s Burgers Movie is a lot of fun for those who follow the Belchers and their everyday problems. And, the PG-13 rating adds more than just teens to the mix, but twenty-something’s as well. This film does have some rude/suggestive material and language, however, so be sure to watch it before letting it lose on the immature members of the family.
