Something for the science and technology and space lovers Galactic Adventures: Sun 3D/Mars 3D are sure to please and they’re being released in Blue-ray and Blu-ray 3D on the same disc. The double feature focuses on The Sun and the second feature on Mars. With the use of special probes sent via rocket, the two spheres have been captured in 3D in all their glory. The combo film features two events that come once in a lifetime and offer a chance to own the actual footage showing close-ups of both The Sun and the surface of Mars.
Magnetosphere Coronal Loops, how many times have you heard that phrase, probably never, unless you are a physicist? But the words are important to our knowing that 93 million miles from Earth is the Sun and the Magnetosphere Coronal Loops have an effect on our planet. All told in the first of two documentaries that are included on this magnificent Blu-ray that holds the answers to some of the reasons for our global warming.

The film takes you on a ride using animation and actual photography to the hottest ball in our immediate universe. There we discover the solar bursts that explode on the Sun and send out blasts of gas that reach the Earth in a matter of 8 minutes. The documentary goes on to give some very interesting scientific material from Richard R. Fisher PHD and Madhulika Guhathakurta PHD in terms that are people friendly. Although most of their findings are very concerning and troubling, the film at least gives information that offer reasonable facts about our changing world.
The second film features Mars and the special landing module that explores the red planet. I found this to be exciting and memorable, even more so than the latter landings on the moon. With the use of actual photos provided by a cam attached to a rover, the film shows that there was water or some form of it on Mars that could have supported life on the planet. While they still have not found evidence of an alien life form, you’ll find many interesting things that support some of our science fiction films.

The combo disc plays on a standard Blu-ray player or you can choose a 3D version when the disc opens to play on a Blu-ray 3D player. Either way the experience is incredibly good, very colorful and exciting. The depth of field using the 3D format does a very good job of showing the landscapes on Mars and the burst of fames from the Sun. While that’s only a part of the show, the glory of it all puts the viewer right into their own space adventure.
The documentary is hosted by Al Roker of the NBC Today Show who narrates the film and introduces those who speak on behalf of the space exploration. Others involved in the film include Madhulika Guhathakurta – NASA astrophysicist and Professor. For NASA Goddard Space Flight Center she studies the solar corona using data from satellites and she is the Lead Program Scientist for NASA’s initiative called “Living with a Star” (LWS) which focuses on understanding and ultimately predicting solar variability and its diverse effects on Earth, human technology and astronauts in space. She is also leading two science definition teams for future missions in the LWS Program, “Solar Probe” and “Solar Sentinels” and involved in a mission in formulation “Radiation Belt Storm Probes (RBSP)”.
An excellent combo for students, teachers, science majors, politicos who are investigating global warming and all of us who want to know about the future of space. More so it shows the effects of our Sun on the Earth and why we should continue our space exploration of Mars.
