I’m sure that in most cases everyone has heard about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy as it was one of the most terrible happenings of modern time. When the killing happened people could remember where they were at that moment in time. Wanting answers as to who, how and why, the Warren Commission was set up to investigate it so Americans would have an account of the tragedy, make Records for the government and hopefully add closure. But, still today there are doubters as to how a lone assailant could have shot Kennedy and who else may have been involved.
The film The Truth is the Only Client tries to put an end to the case once and for all. The two hour plus movie does get down to the nitty gritty, offers an explanation of the Warren Report and challengers any doubters. If you never read The Warren Report, and I believe only historians have done so as the volumes are chuck full of information about what most of us who had and interest already knew, then why another movie? Except to put it in the archives along with The Warren Report, it’s more of an “enough already”.
That said, I can see an outlet for budding historians, movie makers, fact finders and even an opportunity to get some box office for the tragic event. Yes, maybe even a wake-up call that no matter how powerful person you are, no one is immune from the warped mind of a killer.
The film features many of the original Warren Commission members who are still alive today with their opinions and a “call to the naysayers that it’s enough already”. In addition to the commissioners the film features comments by Vincent Bugliosi who was the author of “Reclaiming History- The Assassination of John F. Kennedy”, who chimes in with information that certainly backs up the finality of the Warren Commission’s findings.
So there you have it. The presentation is nicely done, the cast is credible because they were members of the committee, and the others appearing are convincing. And if you want to get together with likeminded friends who may have lived a sheltered life and want to hear all about it from the lips of the commission? Then, you are the target audience for this documentary.
For the production value, detail and historical value The Truth is the Only Client is very good. (3.5 out of 5 Stars)
