Digging into Marvel Studios goody bag, the very successful action hero brand creators pull out Thunderbolts hoping for a surefire hit and a team that may be a winners for future releases. If you are a faithful fan, you probably have seen some of their cameos in various film releases like Captain America, The First Avenger, Black Widow, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But here they take center stage as the new band of heros showing their powers like never before. Of course it wouldn’t be Marvel unless there were special effects and in this motion picture you’ll wallow in copious CGI action scenes that will keep up glued to the perils and fight now available in your home on 4K Blu-ray.
The main Marvel characters in the film Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker are flawed, have not been able to control their powers and more idealistic than heroic. It’s a sad time where the Avengers have been defeated and the world has had to fend for themselves with local enforcement. Coming forward these wannabees are daring and ready to fight.
Enter Russian terrorist leader Valentina Allegra de Fontaine who has tricked the ragtag antiheros trapping them while she brings the supervillain Robert Pullman to destroy any opposition to her plan to control the world. It’s a fight to the finish and the Thunderbolts may be the only hope the world has to offer.
What keeps this film together is the wonderment and charm of the ragtag team that’s brought together as if it is their time to show off their stuff. Under the guidance of director Jake Schreier the actors meld into loveable and daring characters who will stop at nothing to become what they profess to be in the Marvel World. Mixing brilliant seamless special effects to his film, the action sets and destruction make the movie exciting to watch. Much like the birth of the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Thunderbolts being their bid for a future in the super hero action arena.
Now available on Digital, it is being released on July 29 in 4K, Blu-ray and DVD. The film is rated PG-13 for strong violence, language, thematic elements, and some suggestive and drug references.
