Tinker Bell and the Legend of The NeverBeast

Gruff and Fawn make friends

TINKER boxart

She’s back again! Tinker Bell arrives in a Blu-ray Combo pack with a new adventure for youngsters called Disney’s Tinker Bell and the Legend of The NeverBeast. Perfect for young girls, yet adventurous enough for boys as well. The movie features the six popular fairies from Pixie Hallow and in this story you’ll meet Nix a new Fairy and leader of the Scouts. The combo pack includes the Blu-ray, DVD and a code for a download of the film.

The story beings with a comet coming close to the Earth above Pixie Hallow awakening the NeverBeast, a catlike animal with a possum’s tail and long fur. It’s an ancient animal that only awakens to the comet. In the meantime Fawn (voice Ginnifer Goodwin), the animal loving Fairy, has found a baby hawk and wants to return it to the forest. The only thing however, hawks eat fairies. Tinker Bell (voice Mae Whitman) finds out and gets worried that the hawks will attack. When the baby escapes and the hawks come to save it, the Fairy Scouts lead by Nix Nyx (voice Rosario Dawson) save the day.

Not long after, Fawn is in the woods and spots something big. It’s the NeverBeast, but being very curious about all animals wants to investigate. She sees a thorn in the foot of the animal and after a scurry between the two she pulls it out. The beast realizes that Fawn wants to help it. Making friends she calls the animal Gruff due to the sound it makes. When things start getting weird with the NeverBeast building towers out of rocks, Nix and her scouts start getting worried.

The film goes on with an adventure leading to some light action and a few scary parts when the comet starts getting closer to the Earth. It’s all in fun but it wouldn’t hurt to be close by your child during some of the initial action involving Gruff and the Fairy Scouts. You may even get a few extra hugs and a chance to let you child know how important it is to love all animals and be wary of some that are not lovable. But, nothing too intense to really be concerned here as it’s Disney after all.

The film fills my whole 16×9 screen which is Huge plus for me. It is very colorful, crisp and clear throughout. The sound using the television speakers or my upgraded sound bar is very good. Even without the Dolby Digital you can hear the songs, dialogue and action sounds extremely well.

Tinker Bell and the Legend of The NeverBeast has been rated G by the MPAA. It’s about self-sacrifice, friendship, love of animals, what animals do to help the fairies and the phrase “You shouldn’t judge an ‘animal’ by its ‘appearance’”.
