Hip-Hop artist/poet/actor Mos Def will be headlining Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Festival for the second year running today. Hosted by fellow Brooklyn native Rosie Perez, Mos Def joins Sophia Urista, Res, and Paper Doll among other artists in Forte Green Park, where last year it saw 15,000 people turn up to enjoy several amazing (and free) performances. Today promises to be another jam-packed party in the park as the summer festival series keeps on rolling. Read on for details …
Fort Greene Festival is a home grown music, film, and cultural festival that brings thousands of people to Fort Greene Park to celebrate one of Brooklyn’s most vibrant and artistic enclaves as well as the diversity and cultural of Brooklyn.
By now you all should know that we love free, and getting a chance to see Mos Def work his magic on stage without having to drop a coin is absolutely priceless. There will be some awesome food being served up by some of Brooklyn’s finest soul food restaurants at Fort Greene as well. Mos Def is also scheduled to turn up at Rock the Bells Festival on New York’s Governor’s Island Sept. 3 performing with Talib Kweli.
The festival kicks off at 12pm and is slated to end at around 10pm. Check the links below for more details.
