Video Releases For July, August, September 2018

Upcoming in the next few months are a very good selection of movies on video and VOD.  Genre’s include romance, children’s/family animation, horror, drama, comedy and action films on DVD/Blu-ray/VOD/Digital HD and 4K.  The releases are of titles that were  in theaters,  TV series, VOD as well as direct to video.  The most notable are I Feel Pretty, Book Club and Journey’s End.  We will be updating the column so please frequent our Video Release page. The films may also be available on VOD or just Digital HD so look for the download information inside the video release box.

SEVEN DAYS IN ENTEBBE In July 1976, four terrorists hijack an Air France flight from Tel Aviv to Paris and force the flight crew to land in Entebbe, Uganda. There, the Jewish passengers are held hostage, with their safety contingent on the release of dozens of terrorists jailed in Israel, Germany and Sweden. After considerable debate, the Israeli government employs the Israeli Defense Forces to execute a daring rescue.

BEIRUT American Diplomat to Lebanon Martin Skiles (Jon Hamm) along with his wife Nadim (Khalid Benchegra) are living in Beirut, Lebanon in 1971. They throw a party at their upscale residence with 13-year-old Palestinian ward Karim (Yoav Sadian Rosenberg) being a wonderful host. During the party his best friend and CIA Agent Cal Riley (Mark Pellegrino) arrives and notifies Martin that Karim’s brother has been identified as one of the group who kidnapped the Israeli weight lifting team at the Munich Olympics. Moments later the party gets attacked by Palestinian dissidents who take Karim, killing Nadim in the melee.

Journey’s End- Blu-ray/DVD

JOURNEY’S END It’s 1918 and the war in Europe has taken deathly turn where we find a battalion of British soldiers each waiting if their squad will be called up to the front. Changing out every six days, the men relieve those who have been losing ground against the German Army who is about to begin an all-out attack on the tired and meagerly armed British. Showing no fear and wanting the exhilaration of being in the thick of things, newly commissioned Second Lieutenant Raleigh (Asa Butterfield) requests to be with his former military instructor Captain Stanhope (Sam Claflin) who commands squads on the front lines. Granted his wish he gets sent to the front. There he begins to understand the temperament and devastation that war brings on an uneven battlefield.

THE CURED A disease that turns people into zombies has been cured. The once-infected zombies are discriminated against by society and their own families, which causes social issues to arise. This leads to militant government interference.

FUTURE WORLD  In a post-apocalyptic world, where water and gasoline have long since dried-up, a prince from the oasis (one of the last known safe-havens) must venture out to find medicine for the ailing queen (Lucy Liu), but along the way he gets mixed up with the warlord (James Franco) and his robot Ash (Suki Waterhouse), which leads to a daring journey through the desolate wastelands.

1/1 – Blu-ray and VOD

1/1  Lissa (Lindsey Shaw), a 20-year-old girl in rural Pennsylvania struggles with sex, drugs, love and loss.   Shot both on film and digitally, 1/1 is a sharp and unique take on the typical coming-of-age story. The audience experiences Lissa’s personal growth through rapid sequences of mixed-media montages contrasted against long single-take passages, all set to a dynamic soundtrack written and produced by the Australian-American rock band, LIARS.  The result is a fractured, emotional response to characters within the film, with the intention of using these conflicting techniques as a way to give the audience direct access to Lissa’s emotional state, and to visually express the ways in which she reconciles her troubled past with her tense present.
