Ben Folds Five is back and at their nerdy best with the announcement that they have teamed up with The Nerdist crew and Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock gang to bring you a nostalgic explosion of geeked-out awesomeness.
Today saw the premiere of the bands’ video for “Do It Anyway,” the first track from their much anticipated album The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind (ImaVeePee Records/Sony Music) due out tomorrow, September 18th.
The Nerdists’ own Chris Hardwick appears in the video along with actors Anna Kendrick and Rob Corddry.
“Do It Anyway” is a high energy and very catchy tune that encourages you to try new things even if they seem like they’d be unpleasant. You never know, everything could turn out cool. The video is super cute, as it would be anytime you mix Muppets with down to earth rockers who look like your buddies that come around every Friday to play Dungeons & Dragons. (We’re giving away so much here.)
The inspired and very appropriate collaboration marks the 30th anniversary of Henson’s Fraggle Rock, a cult favorite from everyone’s childhood. If your childhood was as awesome as ours was, that is. If you have no clue what we are talking about, go here and lament what you missed out on. Then check out the video below. And try not to think about how old we are.

Do we even have to point out the best bit? When was the last time you sang the Fraggle Rock theme song with Boober, Anna Kendrick and Ben Folds Five?
