THE SUNLIT NIGHT - A Romantic Adventure
EASY DOES IT – Wild and Crazy
Emily Harris

A screwy little film with some intermittent tongue in cheek laughs, Easy Does It attempts to revive the road show flick audience, but it doesn’t have all the right stuff. The script’s hackneyed with the same old goofs, the acting needs an upgrade, and the sets/locations ordinary. That said however, it you have nothing more on TV to watch, it’s a pretty good filler. You may have to have a few and some chips before turning it on.

Jack Buckner (Ben Matheny) and his lifelong buddy Scottie Aldo (Matthew Paul Martinez) disguise themselves to rob in EASY DOES IT from Gravitas Ventures

Jack Buckner (Ben Matheny) and his lifelong buddy Scottie Aldo (Matthew Paul Martinez) work in a diner washing dishes. In their time off they raise extra money by staging fist fights under the local overpass and other nefarious schemes. To keep the expenses low he’s living in an old trailer in Shady Nook Trailer Park. Not doing too well the debt owed to the town’s mob boss King George (Linda Hamilton) has grown beyond their means and she’s about to come down hard on the two dead beats. One day Jack gets a post card from her mother that says “If you are reading this I’m dead. PS Left you something under that pier.” He figures it’s the gold that his mother has always talked about somewhere under the San Clemente, California pier. But the pier is 2100 miles from their jerk water town in Mississippi and gas cots money.

Blue Eyes (Susan Gordon), on the warpath in EASY DOES IT from Gravitas Ventures

After a run in with Blue Eyes (Susan Gordon), the King’s ruthless daughter, the boys jump in their old car and head west looking to cheat a gas station as their first stop. Writer and director Will Addison works on his small budget to bring his first feature to the screen. As low cost indies go however, you get as much as you can out of what you have, and the production looks like it wasn’t enough. The script follows a worn out story of running from the mob boss, being chased by a wild and crazy merciless woman, robbing gas stations for money and gas, and much more on the road to their final destination.

The film has not been rated by the MPAA, but contains a lot of language, violence and a bit of nudity. The film is being released on VOD and Select Theaters (check your local listings for a theater near you)
