Haven Season 5 Torments Viewers and Ends with a Bang, Get it on Blu-ray and DVD

Haven Season 5, vol 1 has arrived on Blu-ray and DVD just in time for binge watchers to re-live everything they loved or hated about season five on the cusp of the finale episodes of the series, airing October 8.

havendvdbr_sesaon5This season began after William was sent into the void, and hit the ground running with a new trouble in town — Mara. Nathan and Duke are devastated to find out Mara has now taken her body “back” over and buried Audrey Parker somewhere deep inside her subconscious (even though she thinks she has effectively “snuffed Audrey out” — no one really believes that except her).

The entire season is a struggle between Nathan and Duke and Mara, as well as Mara and Audrey. Emily Rose (Audrey Parker) even gets a chance to have a little fun being the new, old bad girl in town.havenseason5a

Throughout season five we see Duke struggling with his enhanced trouble that not only takes a curse away, but also now gives them out. What’s worse, he is a pressure cooker of curses and he is literally ready to pop open at any given moment. He is constantly in a battle to push and pull his troubles to control the release of the curses so they aren’t lethal to those around him. As the season progresses however, his options for non-lethal curse release is pretty much over, and the only person he believes he has to turn to for help is the notorious and callous Mara.

havenseason5bOf course Nathan struggles with the realization that he may have lost Audrey to Mara for good. He is torn between the reality that Mara is in full control and Audrey is lost forver, with a desperate need to try to bring Audrey back to the surface and bury Mara once and for all.

havenseason5dAll is not lost however, thanks to Duke’s new trouble release valve, he discovers a way to (unintentionally) rip Audrey out of Mara and create an Audrey-only version — although she will slowly coming apart at a cellular level — but hey, she’s Audrey again! If that wasn’t weird enough, a CDC doctor stumbles into town and slowly starts to uncover the secrets of Haven (and she also uncovers Dwight, ahem) … but she has an even bigger secret of her own that makes her even more important to Audrey and Mara as the season unfolds … ultimately one that can save them all — sort of.

If you’re like me, you can’t get enough of the Haven mavens and this Blu-ray DVD 4-disc set comes with some pretty cool extras…but never enough! Whether you are watching interviews with the cast and crew about their characters, scenes and experiences during season five (13 in total), watching the cool mini-series that depict the origins of Haven along with how and when it all started, or you are listening to the entertaining audio commentary throughout … you will definitely have fun revisiting Haven through this DVD compilation.

The one thing I wish they had included — a blooper real. Those are always so much fun. It might have also been interesting to see a little bit about the “other side” across the void, or to have learned a little more about Mara’s past. Maybe that will show up in the final upcoming episodes.

And, it won’t be long before the final episodes of Haven air on SyFy on October 8. Now that Duke has blown his top, there is no telling what harrowing fate awaits the sleepy town of Haven, Maine. Fans, cross your fingers — let’s hope they end this one right!
