INSIDE AMY SCHUMER boxart

Not your average comedian, Amy Schumer takes the stage on DVD with her unrated version of Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer Season 1 and Season 2. The hilarious unabashed woman never backs down for a good laugh no matter if it offends, titillates, provokes ire or even makes you vomit. It’s all in good adult fun and she takes it on the chin presenting it to audiences who want something different from someone who’s not afraid to dish it out.

Is it just stand-up comedy, in fact that portion is very short. Schumer gets down and dirty with interviews on the street, skits that deal with the morals of the 21st century and questions that the common woman is too afraid to ask. On cable’s Comedy Central her show does tend to block out the expletives, scenes of over exaggerated intimacy and other taboos, but on DVD she lets it all hang out. And it’s completely without those pesky repetitive ads that make you want to get up from your armchair.

It took me some time to get used to her way of expressing comedy, but going onto the second episode I found myself glued to the tube. Topics like hosting a gang bang, a waitress serves a family at a movie themed restaurant, birthday gifts that vibrate, a meth lab in a trailer, a porn star is born, compliments, interviews with a stripper, CIA featuring agents Crossbolt and Butterface, 4 handed massage, new roommate argues with boyfriend, and soooo many more. And that’s just Season one.

It becomes addictive so make sure you have time to watch and the kids are at school or all tucked in for the night. A fun thing would be to invite some girlfriends over, provide their favorite libation and let the DVD rip. After all, Schumer’s a female and us males take a lot of the butt end of the comedy. Being fair however, she has a lot of ‘advice’ for the ladies and some of it isn’t that flattering.

Even if you’ve seen the show on Comedy Central when it was aired in 2013 season one and 2014 season two, her comedy never gets stale. Watching it unrated does add a kick, but when it comes right down to it, its Schumer’s delivery and timing that bears re-watching.

BONUS FEATURES:

At the end of each episode there’s bloopers from one of the skits. Then if that’s not enough content the bonus features include “Unaired Sketches”, “Behind the Scenes Featurettes” and “Seasons 1 and 2 stand-up”, all unrated.

Speaking of unrated, the DVD distributors at Paramount have put a warning on the box. It states “Explicit Content, recommended for Mature Audiences and contains adult language and situations”. Consider yourself warned. As for us men, there’s equal amount of fun for all, especially if you are not timid, get jealous, find out more than you wanted to know about the female anatomy or easily insulted.
