Jeff Dunham’s Christmas Special now on DVD

Jeff Dunham and Achmed Santa

JEFF DUNHAM boxart

Politically incorrect and irreverent Jeff Dunham’s Very Special Christmas Special now on DVD is a laugh riot. The stand-up comedian and ventriloquist gives an hour and a half hour show with his now famous hand puppets. His comedy goes from ‘ha ha’ to raucous laughter entertaining a room full of Wisconsin locals that whoop it up and becoming part of the show. If you are not offended by rude and sometimes off-color comedy, then take this DVD out for a spin.

Along with his regular puppets, Walter, Peanut, Bubba J, Jose Jalapeno and Achmed the terrorist, Dunham stands on stage throwing his voice into the now famous characters. His creative writing and take on many subjects are extremely comical with astute observations about our modern day America. He holds back nothing with comments about nearly every aspect of life including personal sexual preferences, politics, every day American issues, religion and even Santa Claus doesn’t go unscathed.

This Dunham special appeared on Comedy Central in 2008 but his career started very early in life following a love for ventriloquism at very early age. His professional career took off while in college but blossomed a bit when he was asked to join “Sugar Babies” on Broadway starring Mickey Rooney and Ann Miller in 1985. He appeared on the Tonight Show four times and in 2003 got a spot on Comedy Central.

His puppets emulate Americana from Walter the elderly grouch to Bubba J a Mortimer Snerd look alike country bumpkin. His take on things like religious ethnic holidays and social habits are ‘politically incorrect’ but his audiences reply with hysterical laughter. His puppets do all the ‘talking’ while Dunham stands there with a tongue in cheek pan face making the belly laughs even more frequent at times. He even brings some of his own family’s experiences into his act including his daughter filling her gas tank for the first time at a filling station.

The disc has some special bonus material that gets more personal including his wife and children in the process. “Ask Santa” has Walter in a Santa costume taking questions from the audience, “Photo Shoot” shows Dunham posing for the boxart with all his show puppets, “At the Show & Bazookas” shows Dunham’s kids shooting T-shirts into the audience following his performance and more.
