“Trafficked” Exposing the Prurient Playground

The disturbing and eye opening film Trafficked opens this weekend in parts of the America. Dipping into stories by real people caught up in the world of kidnapping for prostitution, this film, although a fictional account, lays it all out for those to see. The film is inspired by real characters from the award winning book ‘Sex Trafficking’ by Harvard Professor Siddharth Kara. Read more

“Pilgrimage” A Trek Into Hell

Here’s one of those movie gems that probably got shuffled out of theaters because a blockbuster film release needed the screens on which it was playing. I’m not sure of its distribution, but if you missed it in theaters, here’s your chance to catch a very good production on Blu-ray or DVD.  The high energy action film takes you back to 1200’s Europe and features a dark time in Ireland. “Blade Runner 2049” Continues a Cult Classic

Opening this weekend, the long awaited sequel of one of the most creative classics of all time, Blade Runner 2049. The film follows the original some 30 years later where the people left on Earth are still trying to survive the social decay and authoritarian abuse. The movie has excellent direction by Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve, amazing cinematography and a nicely connected storyline. The nearly 2 hour film may feel long, but true fans of Blade Runner will think it’s not enough. Read more

“The Mountain Between Us” a Slippery Slope

Sometimes it’s very hard to get it right, especially if you are filming under excruciating circumstances. That seems to be the fate of The Mountain Between Us a survival film that depends on getting the right shot and mood in order to create a chemistry between two opposites. The movie starts with a trite beginning, takes on a difficult situation and then tries to bring a couple together in spite of the ordeal they have to overcome. Read more

“Vikings” a Mesmerizing Adventure into Norse Lore

You don’t have to be a follower of Vikings, the action packed series on the History Channel, just wanting to visualize the era or even one who likes their adventure rough and raw. The second half of season 4 has just been released on Blu-ray/DVD and it has cauldrons of thrills with a lot of dark, character driven stories that will have you hooked on the show.  Of course if you are already a fan, then catching up or reliving the trials of early history can be a good thing too. Video Releases For October, November, December 2017

Upcoming in the next few months are a very good selection of movies on video.  Genre’s include romance, children’s/family animation, horror, drama, comedy and action films on DVD/Blu-ray/VOD/Digital HD and 4K.  The releases are of titles that were  in theaters and TV series, VOD as well as direct to video.  The most notable are Baby Driver, House by the Lake, Kidnap, Spider-Man: Home Coming, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. For pre-schoolers there’s Thomas The Train, PJ Masks, Curious George, and Peppa Pig.  We will be updating the column so please frequent our Video Release page. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” Sails into Home Video

The “final installment” of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales starts with a rip roaring adventure and ends with a heartfelt reunion of sorts by the original main characters. When it first began the buzz was “how can you make a movie from an attraction in a Disney park” with some critics even going so far as saying “it will never sail”. Well that was 14 years ago and the franchise still continues with this last hurrah and it’s probably the best sequel yet. Now on Blu-ray, DVD, and Ultra 4K Blu-ray with oceans of Bonus Extras. “Cult of Chucky” The Red Head Goes Psycho

Sometimes there’s nothing like a good Chucky movie to get your mind off the hum drum life of your daily routine.  Just out on Blu-ray/DVD Cult of Chucky is another sequel of the infamous Child’s Play (Chucky for most fans). If you are a follower you already know how diabolical the main character can be, well it gets even more so with this chapter in the life of the red headed doll. “Captain Underpants” to the Rescue
