Mainly for girls ten through teens, the movie Guardians of Time has been released on DVD. It’s a fun movie that puts four best friends on an adventure into the past where they become the super powered guardians of time. Nicely depicted and acted, the movie has a lot of moral fiber including friendships, working together to solve a mystery and standing up for each other in time of danger.
“It’s not about the finish line, it’s about the steps you take to get there”
Friends Sybil (Samantha Ryan), Alex (Ava Torres), Zoey (Carley Colemon) and Theo (Nia Sallam) are brought together at the mansion of Papa Nickolaou (David Fletchere-Hall). Grandfather to Sybil and Alex, his estate has all the space to have fun. The parents of the girls will be taking a trip and they are left in the hands of Papa.
That first afternoon Sybil starts visualizing strange happenings. Exploring the rooms Alex goes into her Grandfather’s office library where she starts picking out some old books to read. One of the books “The Beginning is the End is the Beginning” has a lot of old strange drawings and symbols. When she shows it to the other girls, it beomes the start of a trip into a world where they come face to face with danger, special powers and helping the past become the future.
Adventurous, exciting and filled with making the right decisions Director Stephen Shimek puts the girls through a maze of finding their way back to their starting point, the mansion. I like the storyline and the acting that make it a very cool fight between good and evil. Most all of the characters the four girls run into are interesting enough to keep the story moving at a fine pace. Special effects are a bit elementary, but not to the point that hurts adventurous trip.
Guardians of Time has been rate PG by the MPAA for some peril and brief mild violence. The whole family should enjoy the movie and its best if the very young are present that an adult be watching along. The monsters may be a bit harsh for immature children.
