Last week, Baltimore-based Co La (Matthew Papich of Ecstatic Sunshine) released the second single from the Fugitive of Leisure (Friends Records) series “Blanketing Marrakesh”. You can listen to it right here and now via Soundcloud below. Clickety click …
Papich’s solo project has produced some uniquely impactful artistry with the use of sampling and mixing as chronicled in a very interesting interview/profile over at Altered Zones.
Going by “Blanketing Marrakesh”, we have to say it is indeed unlike anything we’ve ever heard before. For some reason (could be the heat muddling our brains, could be) it conjures up images of being underwater, talking backwards, and moving in slow motion. There’s a party under there, and every one is having the bee’s knees of a time, tangled up together in some garbled and startling dream.
