Of the most vindictive plots I’ve seen in years, Send Help takes the prize. Swaying from survivor to conniver this nicely thought out movie delves into the essence of retribution and revenge. If you want to take different sides while watching the film with someone, it’s best with a partner who understands you.
Flying in an airplane over the waters of the south pacific with her boss CEO Brad (Dylan O’Brien) to visit a major client is long time employee Linda (Rachel McAdams) who finds herself at odds after being pushed aside after a promise of making Vice President by the company. A hardy fit woman with an extremely high IQ, she is determined to show her boss that she can handle any situation no matter the challenge. On board with her and Brad are only a handful of employees that will pitch the client that will bolster the company’s net worth.

Over the deserted outer islands the airplane crashes into the sea. Finding herself alone on the shores of the mountainous landmass, she takes shelter while she tries to survive. Director Same Raimi (Spider-Man, The Evil Dead, Army of Darkness) does what he is famous for, takes you on the one of the most twisted films of in his career. His choice of Rachel McAdams was an easy one, having already worked with her in two of his Doctor Strange films, the most recent being The Multiverse of Madness. Here he puts her through her paces putting Linda in a world that will test her already honed survival talents. When Brad washes up on shore however; well I really won’t tell you any spoilers that would give away this wacky horror adventure.

Send Help has been rated R by the MPA for strong/bloody violence and language. The cinematography and locations in the outer island of Australia, Sydney, and New South Wales are outstanding. The film is now available on DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, but cautious when deciding to allow immature children see the film as it does have some scenes that are inappropriate for youngsters. For thriller dark comedy fans, this is your cup coconut water.
