The “Cobra Kai” cast talk about the remake of “Karate Kid”

The first season of Cobra Kai drew an astounding 55 million YouTube views for Episode 1 and was the sixth-most Google-searched TV show in 2018. Writers/producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg created the new Karate Kid storyline, which picks up decades after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament.

A down-on-his-luck Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai dojo, reigniting his rivalry with a somewhat flamboyantly successful Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio).

Season 2 kicks in with Daniel and Johnny after a jaw-dropping finale. When a new rivalry between opposing dojos is re-ignited following Cobra Kai’s controversial win at the All Valley Championships, Daniel realizes his next play is to open his own karate training school called Miyagi-Do, in honor of his mentor Mr. Miyagi.

John Kreese, the “show no mercy” ruthless sensei played by Martin Kove returns in the new show’s season finale to visit and offer some advice to Johnny, setting the stage for more drama.
