How do you know you are a die hard fan? Do you wear the same shirt or jersey, sit in the same chair or couch, or do the same motions for every game so your team wins? Well go even further and think about your favorite player on the team, if they went to the Super Bowl would you try and find a way to go? Crazy fan groups start up all the time, but for these special fans they will stop at nothing to see their hero play in the big game in person.
Four Older Women are huge Tom Brady fans since his first playing time in the early 2000. Always, watching every game since. These four huge New England Patriot fans, Lou (Lily Tomlin), hosts the game every Sunday, Trish (Jane Fonda), a former local commercial celebrity, Maura (Rita Moreno), lost her husband a year ago and is living at an assisted living facility, and Betty (Sally Field), a former math professor at MIT, watch their team and hero win the American Football Conference Championship and earn their way to the Super Bowl in Houston. Living in Boston and getting older they decide to try and win tickets to the Super Bowl.
On their adventure they run into many different characters, Pat (Rob Corddry) and Nat (Alex Moffat) host a local Pat’s Nation show in Boston, Gugu (Billy Porter), Lady Gaga’s choreographer, Guy Fieri (Himself), and many others including none other than Tom Brady.
Director Kyle Marvin does a great job putting together this film that is based on true events. He creates many excellent situations with creative circumstances or awkward moments that develop this story into an adventure with great opportunities. Along with the many laughs that you will encounter he puts together a great experience for all to enjoy watching this fantastic journey that brings these four marvelous women on a ride to the Super Bowl.
Based on five wonderful women over 80 that actually have a Patriot watching club with all the crazy rituals becomes a funny entertaining story that will make you all laugh. When these lovable heroes enter your heart you never know where they will bring you.
Final Comment: I based my grade on the spectacular storyline and outstanding performance by all the actors.
