Things have gotten weird after Thanos eliminated half the population of earth and the avengers restored them back. This is also known as the Blip. Afterwards, people began to struggle to survive, finding places to live, and food for their families to eat. The world now struggles with the loss of a large population for five years and then for them to all return and try to adapt to this big change. The returning victims had lost everything they had before the Blip and now have nothing.
With everyone still trying to adjust, Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the eighteen year old daughter of Scott, is trying to fight for the homeless. While, Scott Lang/Ant Man (Paul Rudd) an avenger and former criminal, along with Hope Van Dyne/WASP (Evangeline Lilly) the head of the Pym van Dyne Foundation and also the daughter of Hank and Janet, are busy trying to keep Cassie out of trouble. What they do not know is Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) entomologist, physicist, inventor, former owner of Pym Industries, and the original Ant Man, has been spending time getting to know Cassie, which together they have been working projects unknown by Scott, Hope, and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) a scientist that was lost in the Quantum Realm, wife of Hank and mother of Hope, which could become a problem they are unaware of.
When their research project goes awry they all end up in the world of quantum realm, heading for an adventure with dangers and challenges. Janet, knowing what to expect, tries to find a way to keep them all safe. In this domain they meet many new characters, some friends and some not, including Lord Krylar (Bill Murray), a long time friend of Janet’s. Together they search for a way to save each other and return back home.
Director Payton Reed does a fantastic job bringing this story to life. The special effects are outstanding and very realistic. He is able to develop the visual effects and details to allow us to experience the quantum realm as it should be intended. Payton also develops the storyline to follow in this manner and allow the viewer to really experience the journey. His efforts help allow the actors to perform exceptionally and give an excellent experience for all to see.
An encounter that will bring you into a world never seen before and allow you to feel that you belong on this amazing exploration. This series has its own feel of adventure, but by far this installment gives you what we all have waiting for.
Final Comment: I based my grade on the marvelous special effects, terrific storyline, and the wonderful performance.
