Just in time for the holidays is a different type of Christmas story that is similar to the ‘Home Alone’ series, but now it’s Santa’s turn. The violent adventure gives Kris Kringle a night he will never forget, as he takes on evil, in an attempt to make good.
Santa Claus (David Harbour) is beginning to feel like children and adults don’t appreciate Christmas, and always expect more. His joyful spirit is beginning to fade and he is starting to think it may be time to retire. Busy on Christmas Eve and behind in his deliveries Santa starts to begin drinking and looking for good sweets to eat while he delivers. Eventually he ends up at a home that has everything he needs so he takes the time to enjoy the luxuries.
Jason Lightstone (Alex Hassell) is returning home with his separated wife Linda Matthews (Alexis Louder) and daughter Trudy (Leah Brady) to spend the holidays with his mother Gertrude (Beverly D’Angelo), Oil tycoon and billionaire, and the rest of his family. When they reach his family’s mansion he sees his sister Alva Lightstone (Edi Patterson), her husband Morgan (Cam Gigandet), and her son Bert (Alexander Elliot) and they begin the schmoozing to attempt to convince their mother to gain the family fortune.
Director Tommy Wirkola puts together a funny, enjoyable, action horror adventure for everyone to enjoy. He amuses the audience with some laughter, and presents some gruesome scenes that have many surprised and repulsed responses. Using great special effects Tommy is able to display the events of the night in a way that will surely entertain.
Final Comment: I based my grade on the hilarious scenes, good storyline, and the wonderful special effects.
