In the midst of the John Wick saga, the ultimate battle must be endured, and the story about a young girl starts to take hold. As our hero faces death, a new spawn of this domain begins to form bringing us a future deliverer to save their way of life and the code. Based on vengeance should this new entity actually be what this world needs or does this indicate the end of this realm?
As a young girl, Eve (Victoria Comte), saw her father killed in front of her and the damage has been building up inside. When found by Winston Scott (Ian McShane), the owner and manager of the New York Continental Hotel, she is brought to New York to see the Director (Anjelica Huston). With a history in dancing and a love for ballet, the Director decided to introduce Eve to her team and the option was presented to her to consider. Eve with no hesitation when given this choice, officially chooses to become part of Ruska Roma.
After years training as a Ballerina and learning the rules of the trade, Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) must also master the skills needed for the show, as well as the traditions of an outstanding assassin. Her determination to excel is gaining strides amongst the group, when the director learns of her desire to avenge her father, things begin to get dicey. The director tries to convince Eve that tracking down this cult of ruthless monsters, led by the Chancellor (Gabriel Byrne), could be a path that she may never return from.
Along the way Eve meets some interesting colleagues, such as, Charon (Lance Reddick), concierge at the Continental Hotel and friend of Winston, and Nogi (Sharon Duncan-Brewster), Eve’s mentor, not to mention the official meeting of John Wick (Keanu Reeves), a professional hitman and legendary assassin. Needing much help throughout her quest and finding many characters that could assist her along the way is determined to be futile as her escapades continue. During this journey of self-discovery, Eve must decide to either continue with her revenge plot that could destroy the Ruska Roma or step down and surrender with hopes for a quick death.
In the wake of the John Wick saga, Director Len Wiseman, finds a way to put together an excellent storyline that develops a new adventure within the universe that is so highly followed. Designed to take place in between Chapter three and four of the series, when John and Ana had a brief interaction before the forgone conclusion of our hero’s journey. Len presents a realm within this society that fully explains the good and evil that exists for these assassins. While including fantastic fight scenes, with amazing special effects and incredible explosive sequences that help generate the expected outcome for the audience. The performance from the cast was marvelous, especially from Ana de Armas, Gabriel Byrne, and the usual suspects from Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, and Anjelica Huston.
Finally, if you are looking for a terrific action flick that includes a lot of violence, sword play, martial arts, explosions, and great dialogue then this one’s for you. Everything is there for you to see and for those John Wick fans, it does not disappoint. Are you ready for some all-out fun and eruptive brutality, then what are you waiting for?
Final Comment: I based my grade on tremendous choreography expressed throughout the battle scenes, and impressive execution from the actors, and the wonderful rendition of the narrative.
