‘The World Will Tremble’ Getting the Message Out

‘The Electric State’ Who is the True Enemy?

In a reimagined realm where technology began to take us over in the early 90’s the world went into a state of war with itself and with what it created. The robots were the machines man made and now they were wanting to be free of man’s tyranny. In this new domain the created machinery did everything for us and began to show superiority over human knowledge. This puts fear into many people causing unrest in society and eventually leading to the outcome that begins our story.

With the robots beginning to perform many of the jobs that the humans did not want to do, and their intelligence was excelling at a fast past, they started to realize that they were worth more than what they were used for. The androids began to start strikes, causing the economy to begin to drop and violence initiated, eventually causing a war between the robots and the humans. At first the machines would overpower the humans, until Ethan Skate (Stanley Tucci) developed a virtual reality suit that could be used to fight back. Using this new technology, Colonel Marshall Bradbury (Giancarlo Esposito), becomes the hero of our new society and changes the tides for his people. Once the humans dominated the androids, they were banished to what they called the Electric State and then our world moved into a virtual state of mind.

Orphaned 15-year-old Michelle Greene (Millie Bobby Brown), had been bounced around from foster home to foster home over the past two years after her family was lost in an auto accident. Her current foster dad, Ted Finister (Jason Alexander), plays all day on his virtual reality robot and makes her do everything. Struggling in school and also with the loss of her family, she falls more and more behind in her schoolwork. Eventually, she decides to run off and search for her past among the enemies she was brought up to fear.

In the robot world, there are many characters that hold the key to what Michelle is searching for, there leader, Mr. Peanut (Woody Harrelson), has tried to keep peace with the humans, but has failed and lives in the banished world that was created for his kind. Some of the other individuals that Michelle encounters are Herman (Anthony Mackie), Popfly (Brian Cox), Penny Pal (Jenny Slate), Cosmo (Alan Tudyk), Perplexo (Hank Azaria), Wolfe (Colman Domingo), Blitz (Rob Gronkowski), Garbage Bot (Billy Gardell), Mrs. Scissors (Susan Leslie), Clem (Jordan Black). Here is where she begins to realize the real truth behind everything. Finding help along the way from Staff Sgt. John D. Keats (Chris Pratt), Dr. Clark and Amherst / the voice of P.C. (Ke Huy Quan), she is able to try and piece together the death of her brother Christopher Greene (Woody Norman).

Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo put together a fantastic storyline that includes excellent computer-generated imagery (CGI), along with spectacular special effects. The Russo’s did include a great narrative with wonderfully placed comedy throughout the tale. The performance by the cast was very entertaining and kept the adventure very believable. Overall, the journey made by each personality was performed very well and moved the chronicle along to its final conclusion. The view into this world was very interesting and cool to observe, bringing us all on an expedition into a strange dimension, so we can experience it all firsthand.

All in all, since this quest appears on Netflix it is definitely worth the time to view and encounter it at home. It is an amazing performance and a unique plot that will grab the watcher’s attention to its final conclusion.

Final Comment: I based my grade on a marvelous voyage throughout this country, the remarkable acting, and the exceptional special fear.
