‘The Wild Robot’ Discovering a Mother’s Love

What happens if artificial intelligence experiences nature and its inhabitants before man can explain its side of the story? Do these robots see things differently than we do? Will their interaction with these creatures change their programming and help them better understand the needs of these animals. This adventure will lead you into the experience of this android and how it begins to recognize the true feelings of its new environment.

After crashing on the shore of a distant land, while on their way to an unknown customer, ROZZUM unit 7134 (“Roz”) (voiced by Lupita Nyong’o), discovers that she is not where she was expected to go.  This new environment is a place of wonder for her as she learns many things about this land of the forest. Belonging to Universal Dynamics a company who develops these machines to help and complete services for humans on whatever they need.

In this new world Roz uncovers a baby (voiced by Boone Storme) Barnacle goose who has just hatched, and that she calls Brightbill. She quickly finds that this new creature won’t leave her side and has to find a way to help him. Needing to understand the wildlife of the forest, Roz develops her own programming to interpret their voices. While exploring this new journey she has begun to endure, she unwilling befriends a mischievous red fox by the name of Fink (voiced by Pedro Pascal). Together they begin to raise this young goose and instantly find out they need to seek advice from others.

These new friends they all encounter over many months, as Brightbill (voiced by Kit Connor) matures, leave messages that seem to help. Eventually their narrative blossoms into an adventure where they discover the meanings to the life of a goose.  These interesting characters like Pinktail (voiced by Catherine O’Hara), a mother opossum who helps Roz with some advice, Longneck (voiced by Bill Nighy), a wise elder goose, Thorn (voiced by Mark Hamill), a grizzly bear, Paddler (voiced by Matt Berry), a beaver and Thunderbolt (voiced by Ving Rhames), a falcon who helps Brightbill learn to fly, all become essential to Brightbill growing up

Discovering nature from the perspective of artificial life, that is developed to learn, gives us a new perception on caring and motherhood. The director and writer Chris Sanders by using computerized animation brings this wonderful story to life. He presents to us how important it is to continue the cycle and how a robot finds the feelings to help and become a pseudo mother. Chris used special effects to develop a realistic presentation of this tale and dives you into the exploration of a lifetime. This quest is worth experiencing and following the voyage of these characters will take you on a trip that will allow you to encounter the love and friendship they all discover.

Final Comment: I based my grade on a fantastic storyline that included breathtaking computerized special effects.
